What does [tex]\frac{x-4}{5} = \frac{6}{7}[/tex] solve for [tex]x[/tex]?

Answer (3)

x − 5 4  = 7 6
Pass the 5 4 but change the signal
x = 7 6  + 5 4
now we have to make the minimum common multiple of 7 and 5, this number will be 35 therefore
x = 35 6 ∗ 5  + 35 4 ∗ 7
x = 35 30  + 35 28
now we can add both
x = 35 30  + 35 28
x = 35 30 + 28
x = 35 58

To solve 5 x − 4  = 7 6  , multiply both sides by 35 to eliminate the fractions, resulting in 7 ( x − 4 ) = 30 . After isolating x , we find that x = 7 58  .
